Loving KINDness in Family Matters

This class focuses on emotions and relationships within the family system, although it can be applied to any of our intimate relationships. We primarily focus on the family here because our earliest experience and understanding of ourselves most often begins within our families. Primary caregivers are our earliest teachers about emotions, relationships, life, and the world around us. They help us form our relationship “templates” and a fundamental understanding of ourselves. These messages and experiences are often generations in the making. Like genes, patterns connected to handling emotions, relating to others, understanding the world and life itself are handed down through families, across generations. As adults, we have the opportunity to create our own relationships, families, and lives and often aspire to create something new. Yet, as we go about living our adult lives, our most challenging relationships can be with our family members. Navigating challenging family dynamics and relationships can be a source of stress, anger, and anxiety. Having greater support in healing the past and gaining more mastery in steering family relationships in the present, in a way that is both kind and true to you can bring about tremendous freedom. As we do so, we model positive behaviors for our children, who will carry our relationship legacies forward.

During this class you will learn to practice KIND and in doing so:

  • Explore your natural desire to be happy by uncovering what genuinely makes you happy and how this relates to others’ desire to be happy.
  • Focus in-depth on the practice of loving kindness, directing kind intentions towards yourself and in your relationships with others, including your family members.
  • Practice compassion, forgiveness, navigation of emotions and relationships, while setting and maintaining healthy boundaries.
  • Uncover and develop a relationship with the best version of yourself.
  • Connect with your life purpose and envision your future and dreams from a renewed perspective.
